University of Anchorage Alaska 3032 diamond plate aluminum tensile strength analysis after welding with 4043 in the shielded metal arc welding process and 1100 in the gas metal arc welding process. Lab 1 Report Weld A287 Metallurgy Eli Ringelenstein, Instructor Objective: To prepare two pieces of given material, weld using specific electrodes one for ductility and once for tensile strength, prepare the pieces for the tensile machine, perform the tensile test, document record and form a report based on findings. To start are given material was cut into 2 inch wide by 6 inch long strips, the material was then ground on the end giving it a bevel somewhere between 30 and 45°. Once the material

was cut to the specific dimensions needed and ground appropriately the material was then cleaned fit together and welded. Once properly fitted the material was welded, the first sample that was welded was welded with a MillerMaticwire feed gun using spray transfer utilizing 1100 series electrode.
