4-2 Journal: Individual PerceptionWhen you are a manager for a company you have to pay special attention to how conflicts are resolved. Individual perceptions play a large part and a manager needs to take individual perceptions into consideration. I had a manager that had a saying “perception is reality”. I did not agree with the saying but he had a point. What people perceive is their reality. Employees have a lot of things going on in their lives and as a manger you cannot be privy to all of them. Employees each have different viewpoint even though they are experiencing the same situation. The difference in viewpoints can lead to conflicts in the workplace.There needs to be a conversation and you need to be able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes. As a manager you need to speak to each of the employees involved in the situation and get each side of the story.
