Bennett 1Module 3 Assignment: Research and ReportOverviewThroughout this module you have been exploring how the integumentary and skeletal systems are ourbody's first line of defense. But what happens if something within the systems fail? In this assignment, you are going to explore the foundations of both systems and explain how they work together to protectour bodies. Finally, I want you to explore one common condition – osteoporosis – and explain thecausative factors of this condition. You should spend approximately 3.5 hours on this assignment.InstructionsPrepare a written paper to Dr. Jake Smith of at least 500 words that includes the following:Describe the general structures and functions of the integumentary and skeletal systems andhow they work together to maintain homeostasis.Describe the types of problems that would occur if this body system could not maintainhomeostasis.Next, explore the normal functions of the bones and bone cells so that you can describe whatfactors may contribute to Jake's osteoporosis case. Specifically:Mention the name of the bone cells and their function in modeling and remodeling the bonetissue. What factors can increase or decrease the action of the bone cells, and what is the result? How does the body maintain the balance between bone resorption and bone formation?Based on the causal factors of osteoporosis you have detected, which are preventable orcurable? Is hormonal replacement therapy the solution? Explain.
Bennett 2In general, the integumentary works with the muscular system. Together the integumentary systemand muscular system help to protect the muscles, produce heat and increase the flow of blood withinthe skin. When discussing the integumentary system, it holds multiple roles when it comes tohomeostasis that includes protection to the body, sensory reception, absorption, and biochemicalsynthesis.Typically all systems within the body will work together in an interconnected manner andmaintain the main essential functions of the body.
