2 CSR versus CC For this post, I chose to write my discussion board on the differences between corporate social responsibility and corporate citizenship. Before you can contrast the two, it is important to have an understanding of what each term means. To start, corporate social responsibility is about holding companies accountable for more than what products they sell. It is defined as, "actions of an organization to take responsibility for the impacts of its activities on society and the environment, where these actions: are consistent with the interests of society and sustainable development; are based on ethical behavior, compliance with applicable law and intergovernmental instruments; and are integrated into the ongoing activities of an organization” (Corporate Social Responsibility versus Corporate Citizenship, n.d., pp. 2).
