Reli 103 Midterm Exam Potential Essay Questions 1. In as much detail as possible, discuss the evidence that scholars have adduced in support of the “Documentary Hypothesis” (for the Pentateuch) 2. In as much detail as possible, discuss the reasons some scholars have come to question the historical accuracy of the biblical accounts of the exodus. 3. In as much detail as possible, discuss the historical problems raised by the accounts of the conquest of Canaan in Joshua. 4. Choose any book of the Pentateuch, and in as much detail as possible discuss its overarching themes, and show how these themes come to be developed throughout the book. 5. Choose either the primeval history (Genesis 1-11) or the patriarchal history (Genesis 12-50) and in as much detail as possible discuss the overarching themes of the narrative. 6. What do you see as the overarching themes of the Deuteronomistic History, and how do you see these themes played out in the narrative?
