RUNNING HEAD: DOMINO’S TRAINING 2 1.What outcomes or criteria should Domino's Pizza measure to determine if CD-ROM training is an effective method for teaching new employees how to stretch pizza dough to fit a 12-inch pan? Various criteria and outcomes could be used by Domino’s to determine the efficiency of their CD-ROM training. The objective for the company is to understand how effective this training method is and if it is retained better than actual on-the-job training. According to an article regarding computer based training and traditional training, “as a technology-driven learning solution, computer-based instruction (CBI) has been one of the most frequently used methods proven to be cost effective and yet instructionally sound delivery method for learning,” (Blotzer, 2000; Wilson, 2000). With this statement Domino’s can gain a better understanding of the benefits of instituting the CD-ROM training as it proves to be a better return on investment than a traditional training platform. “CBI costs about half the traditional classroom instruction costs; due to this cost, the use of traditional classroom instruction declined, and technology-driven courses are predicted to rise” (Mottl, 2000). It is important for Domino’s to look at the training program as a whole, including the learning of knowledge and job skills, its retention and its application also known as training transfer, as this will help to determine the effectiveness of the program in meeting their goal to teach new employees the proper way to create pizza dough for certain pan sizes. The use of cognitive outcomes is a great way for Domino’s to determine the effectiveness of CD-ROM training because it aids in determining to what degree a trainee is familiar with the “principles, facts, techniques, procedures, and processes emphasized in the training program” (Noe, 2017). Within this outcome the primary objective is to measure what thetrainee’s learned after their training. This would help Domino’s determine the retention of information by trainees while also knowing the proper tools were provided during their training to ensure they perform at a peak level.
