Zach Pawelek Mrs. Kelly Taylor GRA 111-001 25 February 2019 Web Offset Article Summary Web offset printing is undoubtedly one of the fastest methods of printing available, capa- ble of jobs that produce over a million products. With many moving parts and sections of the press working together in harmony, it is a miracle of production that should not be overlooked. However, with such a large-scale machine, it does not come without its fair share of maintenance issues, and problems that can go awry. Waste and inefficiency of production is one of the biggest concerns to the manufacturer. Even the smallest mistake in conjunction with the incredible speed of the machine can result in loss of profit, and damage to the machine itself. This waste can be broken down into categories: tear sheet waste, sweep waste, and print waste. No matter the source, any substrate that cannot be used, or any ink that is contaminated, is an attack on profit for the company. While every mistake cannot be prevented, and mishaps are inevitably bound to happen, many precautions can be taken
