Zach Pawelek Mrs. Kelly Taylor GRA 111-001 25 February 2019 Web Offset “A-ha” Unlike sheetfed offset printing, web presses are capable of more complex and demanding jobs. With their rolls (webs) of paper, companies are able to produce millions of items in a single press run, and save time and energy through its efficient production. However, which such in- credible speeds, the machine must be able to properly gather all of the printed substrate, and or- ganize it for shipment. Perhaps the most remarkable aspect about this whole process is the heat- ing and cooling system. Since the ink is applied very wet, and with an oily texture, it is not ready to touch or be handled. In just a fraction of a second, hundreds of printed materials are passed through a large oven-like container called a “dryer” that dries the solvents at over 250 degrees.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
