Math 293, Spring 2000 Instructor: Allen Hatcher Office: 553 Malott Hall Phone: 255-4091 Email: [email protected] Textbooks: Thomas & Finney, Calculus 9th edition, the same book as in Math 192. This will be the textbook for the first part of the course, about 5-6 weeks. We will cover Chapters 13 and 14, the last two chapters of the book. Nagle, Saff, & Snider, Fundamentals of Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems, 3rd edition. This is a new edition -- the 2nd edition was used in 293 last semester. It will be the textbook for the second part of the course, starting in the 6th or 7th week, so students don't need to buy it immediately. Most of what we do from this book will be from Chapters 1, 2, 4, and 10. Math 293 and 294 are currently being reorganized to make them independent of each other, so students will be able to take either course first. This semester 293 will be under the new syllabus, but 294 will not begin the new syllabus until next fall. The main changes from the old syllabus are:

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
