Marketing Information Report Company: Sanitarium Health Food Company The Sanitarium Health and Wellbeing Company is the trading name of two sister food companies (Australian Health and Nutrition Association Ltd and New Zealand Health Association Ltd). Both are wholly owned by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Founded in Melbourne, Victoria, in 1898, Sanitarium has factories in a number of locations across Australia and New Zealand, producing a large range of breakfast cereals and vegetarian products. All the food products it manufactures and markets are plant derived or vegetarian. Its flagship product is Weet-Bix, a top seller in the Australian and New Zealand breakfast cereal markets. Sanitarium has produced and marketed many food products throughout its 100 years history, including peanut butter, vegetarian meals, snacks, and beverages. Products Sanitarium changed Australia's eating habits as the company was the first to introduce healthy breakfast foods and innovative soy foods and promoted plant-based eating long before it became trendy. In caring for the health and wellbeing of Australians, Sanitarium continue to create breakfast cereals, dairy free milks, spreads and vegetarian foods. Their main products are: Weet-Bix: Australia’s top selling and most trusted breakfast cereal in Australia, is one of the nation’s most iconic brands. There are many varieties including Gluten-Free Weet-Bix, Weet-Bix Bites, Weet-Bix Blends and Weet-Bix GO; UP&GO: a nutritious liquid breakfast range that’s perfect for busy mornings and is available in a range of varieties, sizes and flavours; So Good: dairy free milks and ice creams continues to offer a wide range of product and flavour combinations to Australians. While Sanitarium pioneered soymilks, today they make Australia’s favourite almond and coconut milks which are a high in calcium, low in sugar and naturally lactose and gluten free; Spreads: peanut butter available in Original, Natural and No Added Sugar or Salt – as well as crunchy or smooth. They also produce Marmite, Australia’s original yeast spread that’s long been valued as an excellent source of folate, B vitamins and iron and is low in fat. Company’s Philosophy and Key Promises Sanitarium conducts their business in an environmentally responsible manner to protect the planet and its natural resources. As well as complying with environmental laws and regulations, Sanitarium commits to: Making environmental concerns an integral part of their planning and decision-making, including management of natural resources and company-owned facilities; Encouraging their customers and business partners to consider the environment in all their buying and business decisions, and educating employees to do the same; Doing the possible to prevent or fix any negative effects their operations might have on the environment; Promoting the efficient and cost-effective use of resources;
