MYTHS 2 Myths How is the word myth used popularly? Parents use to teach kids as well as kids use myths on other kids to scare them short stories folktales that have been told over time and throughout generations are myths there is no truth to them they are told in such a manner to make people believe there is truth in them mostly they are told to teach or just to pass time with a story. For example, what does the statement, "It's a myth" mean? This means something that is not true but can be mistaken as true. Myths have served a purpose through the centuries and will continue to make people’s lives more interesting as the years go by. In contrast, how is the word myth used in the academic context?   The word myth at times is avoided in academic context for some believe it has no  meaning. Many academic experts debate as to if a myth has any meaning or place in  learning or the future.
