1 Requirements & Specification, ESOF 328, Spring 2018 “A picture is Worth 1024 Words” , Chapter 12 “Specifying data requirements”, Chapter 13 Risk reduction through prototyping , Chapter 15 Suggest a model(s) to use to represent pertinent information for the following situations. For each model suggested, describe what will be shown in the model. 1. Physics oscilloscope where signals are taken through multiple processes, each transforming the signal is some way, until the signal is finally outputted with specific characteristics. (Note, a transformation may or may not change the signal.) Data flow diagrams to show the processes that the signals go through and how the signal is transformed. Context diagram to show the inputs and outputs (a context diagram is a level 1 data flow diagram). Dialog map to show users the interface which they can use to manipulate the signals (note that this may be “stepping on the toes” of the developers) .
