Jerdan Velazquez 4/16/18 Per. 1 english Civil Engineer Civil engineering is a fulfilling, well paying career that entails planning, designing and overseeing the construction of buildings and other community structures such as bridges, dams, roads, railways and sewers using math and science skills. I believe this could be a successful career choice for me because of my math skills and my interest in science. One thing that concerns me about this career is the possible hours of desk work that civil engineers sometimes put in. Starting salaries for civil engineering is anywhere from $61,000-$75,000, where as senior civil engineers on average make $105,000-$129,000, however quite a few senior civil engineers make up to $145,000 annually. In this career one can expect to split their work time 50/50; working inside and outside. At times engineers will have to work weekends and nights to meet deadlines, which can be stressful due to the pressure of each task. The civil engineering career is expected to increase
