Homework #2 Preston Straight 1/29/08 ATOC 1060 Review Question’s 1.) The coupling between these two components are positive since the perturbation causes both component A and B to decrease. (-1)(-1)=1 3.) Negative feedback loops tend to diminish the effect of disturbances because the couplings cancel each other out. For example, the higher the temperature more H2O is evaporated into the atmosphere causing clouds to form. With an increase in clouds the temperature becomes lower. It will always be a constant loop with no winner in the end. 6.) The albedo is how much the surface of the earth reflects the sun’s rays back into the atmosphere or absorbs the rays into the surface. The albedo is usually shown in a decimal fraction form of the total incoming rays that are reflected from the surface. If the albedo is higher, more rays are reflected off the surface cooling the planet. The lower the albedo, more rays will be absorbed into the surface causing the climate and temperature to rise. 7.) Due to albedo, when the temperature is too hot, Daisyworld produces more white
