Parliament of Europa The Green Party By: Preston Straight PSCI 2012 Jami Nelson-Nunez There are Green Parties in most European countries, as well as the US. They have very liberal views in most government issues. The two major Green Parties in the United Kingdom are the UK Green Party and the Scottish Green Party. For our Green Party in Europa, we decided to be very liberal on our views as well. The name Green Party stems from their eco-friendly ways, but they have grown to have several other ideals besides just the environmental issue. There are “33 member parties from Ireland to Georgia, from Malta to Norway.” (European Greens) The Four Pillars of the Green Party is a foundational statement for most Green Parties in the world. The Four Pillars are ecological wisdom, social justice, grassroots democracy and nonviolence. (Scottish Green) Off these ideals, most of the political ideas can be based. The UK Green Party’s main topic at the present time is the economy. They believe in privatization and “economics as if people mattered.” (UK Green Party) They want the
