To obtain a sample, we use a sampling technique
Sampling Type Mesnin
(Simple ) Random A sample is chosen from the whole
population in a way that guarantees
every group of that size has an equal
chance of being cho sen .
* Note * Here, random means "fair " or
equally likely," not informal or arbitrary.
All individuals are numbered sequentially
( 1, 2, 3, 4, . . ) and the first person is chosen
randomly. The remaining people are
Chosen using a fixed spacing, like
"every fifth person.
The population is first broken in to
groups '(strata" ). Then equal-sized
random samples are taken from each group.
s Choose 3
The population is again broken into
groups (clusters"). Now we randomly
of the groups
choose the groups, and then take
all individuals from each chosen group.
(Try to avoid)
Anyone who is easy to contact is
included in the sample.
* This type produces unreliable results. *
