INFS 724Mini-Case Study 03:Defining Standard Projects at Global Green Books PublishingSona NgohComment on the following aspects of the case study: a)Printing books in a print shop, especially large quantities of a single book, is a process. A process is an ongoing day-to-day repetitive set of activities the print shop performs when producing its products. How are these customized eBooks different from a standard printing process? What characteristics make these customized eBooks a project? Characteristics that make these customized eBooks a project are1.They are Unique:Each book had different production steps, different contents and reprint approvalsrequired, and different layouts and cover designs. Each book had different production steps, differentcontents and reprint approvals required, and different layouts and cover designs.2.Time Bound:The is a time bound with a fixed start and end time and times when different tasks areto be undertaken.Each eBook had to be produced on time and had to be made to match just exactly what the professors requested.3.Resource Constraint:Producing each eBook, Global Green management has to define what resources can be used when in order to meet the scope of customizing the eBooks. 4.Quality Constraints:While producing each eBook, there is a spread or deviation allowed from the desired standard.5.Associated Risk:There are certain events which may happen that will drive the production of off course. Global Green management has to identify and manage these risks to successfully complete the production of each eBook.b)Who are the stakeholders in these eBook projects? How are they involved in or affected by an eBook project? 1.Professors:They use these books for instructing students. If they don’t get their books to specification or on time, they may not cover all material for the course as planned. 2.Students: They use these books to study for their courses. If they don’t get their books to specification and on time they may not acquire necessary skills and knowledge which are objectives of the course.3.College Administration: Students and professors of the college use these eBooks for different programs in the college. If these books are not to standard and on time, college programs may not meet their academic objectives.
