Team A - Chief Executive Leadership Role of Health Plan Team C found the challenge of defining the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a Health Plan a rewarding subject. The team used vastly different internet sites to gather information but all information results gathered were similar. As a team, we discovered that the CEO of a Health Plan holds the responsibility of commander in chief of the health plan. Their responsibilities include the oversight of financial operations with an emphasis on fiscal reporting. The CEO also establishes & facilitates an organizational culture of collaboration & integration that transcends to excellent service to employee, provides a safe working environment, supports innovations, & encourages creativity. The CEOhas additional responsibilities of overseeing the design, delivery, & quality of programs such as marketing, promotions, & products. The CEO is knowledgeable in all new reulations like the Affordable Care Act of 2010. This individual should also posses the skills of aleader who is willing to mold, educate, & train organizational management staff. Because the CO is viewed as a leader in their field, they are often asked to participate in large health care grops. The CEO of Kaiser Permanente serves on many committees outside of the organization on national & international level helping shape key health care policies. The CEO is accountable to the board of directors & most importantly to the employees. Because of the above responsibilities & necessary skill sets, the chief executive officer position is considered the most important management position within an organization.
