Conner 1 Maralina N Conner Julie Hickman BU Term Paper December 13, 2018 The Relationship between Ethics and HRM In today’s ever-changing business world, all organizations should establish a code of ethics for their employee to adhere too. Establishing and incorporating ethics into an organization allows human re - source management to respond accordingly to all internal and external stimulus. Without ethics in or - ganizations, the HRM team(s); leadership, problem-solving, employee(s) structure and guidelines, and the organization's current industry cannot run significantly. When trying to examine how ethics affects human resource management, one must know the role the HRM plays for any organization. According to Ruth Mayhew, author of “10 Reasons HR Is Important to an Organization,” the fundamental roles a(n) human resource manager(s) play a vital role in all organizations. One role the HRM plays is known as strategic management; they participate in corporate internal and external decision-making that focuses on the current staffing assessments and the projections that will help the organization(s) workforce meet the demand on the company. When addressing the organizations payroll for the current year, the human resource manager is re - sponsible for conducting wage and salary surveys. The financial structures for any organization will allow the human resource managers to obtain and maintain a firm foundation. By doing so, they can be competitive in the current and upcoming year when seeking skilled employees and when perfor - mance reviews are needed. Another core role a(n) HRM is making sure an organization in full com - pliance with the U.S Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations (OSHA). To do this, they ensure that all work logs and records are up to date and accurate, as well as establish pro - grams for their employees that focuses on minimizing workplace injuries and fatalities. After estab - lishing some of the critical roles a human resource manager is responsible for, one can see how es - sential ethics play in today's organization(s) success.
