This preview shows page 1 - 2 out of 3 pages.

Organizations can be made of formal and informal organizational structure and oftentimes both are present within structure and substructures of the departments within the organization. The formal organization will place it’s emphasis on the defined power structure conversely the informal organization’s focus is placed on relationships and employees (Marquis & Huston, 2015). There is an element of information structure within many departments which are formed by the social networks of the staff and often communicate through the grapevine (Marquis & Huston, 2015). North Country Hospital follows a matrix structure “designed to focus on both product and function” (Marquis & Huston, 2015, p. 303). This structure allows centralized control, however it sometimes doesn’t work well within the specific departments as things don’t tend to happen as quickly. Therefore, within the area of nursing at the hospital, a flat organizational design is followed in an effort to decentralize some of the minor decisions that need to occur.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
