Chemistry- the study of the composition of matter and changes of matter. Organic chemistry- study of all chemicals containing carbon. Inorganic chemistry- study of chemicals that do not contain carbon Biochemistry- study of what takes place in living organisms. Analytical chemistry- the study on the composition of matter. Physical chemistry- study of when matter undergoes a change. Pure chemistry- having chemical knowledge for yourself pleasure. Applied chemistry- research towards a practical goal. The scope if chemistry is vast. because all living and nonliving things are made of matter. There are 5 traditional areas of study in chemistry. organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, and physical chemistry. Compare and Contrast Pure Chemistry with Applied Chemistry. Pure chemistry can lead to an application even though scientist don’t think the knowledge can be used, while the applied chemistry is research to an specific question. There are 8 central themes in chemistry. chemistry as the central science, electrons and the structure of atoms, bonding and interactions, reactions, kinetic theory, the mole and quantifying matter, matter and energy, and carbon chemistry.
