A computer simply cannot run and operate without software to direct every command and function. An operating system does just that; the operating system or OS is a make-up of programs that mediate between the computer’s hardware functions and application software that the user desires to have. In this discussion post I’ll describe the options available for both hardware and software. Regarding the heart-beat of the computer also known as the engine is what is called the processor. Processors can come as either a single or in multi-processor options.Today we mostly see the multiple option due to increasing technology.Single ProcessorA single processing system has one processor meaning it executes one process at a time. I sort of think of a single processor as the execution of a software code, it cycles through the code one line at a time until it cycles through completely. Upon startup of your system the applications opening must open one at a time and in its exact execution order (steps each application must cycle through until that app is fully running), then onto the next app. The cost tends to be more
