Liz Onserio Campus Carry Will Kill College campuses have experienced a steady stream of horrific acts of gun violence for several decades now. With attacks that have overwhelmingly been carried out by students who are either disgruntled, or mentally ill. These instances of violence have left numerous students, professors, and faculty members dead, injured, and permanently traumatised. Causing ripples of grief and pain that not only affect the families of those who were victims of the violence, but also their communities, and the nation at large. Having watched these tragedies unfold several times over, the debates over whether or not to impose stricter laws concerning gun control have increased exponentially. With gun rights advocates advocating for the freedom to carry firearms on campuses for protection and as a legal right, and gun control advocates lobbying for heavier restrictions on who can own firearms, as well as where they can be carried. Amid these contentious debates the Texas legislature has passed an open carry bill allowing for the handling of firearms on college campuses. I strongly disagree with this bill, as I believe that allowing guns
