HUM 100 Project 1 Artifact ChartArtifactWhat is your chosen artifact? Include a link to or a picture of the artifact. The Statue of LibertyI.Describe the artifactin detail. For instance, how would you describe it to someone who could not see it?The Statue of Liberty is designed by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi in 1886, located in the New York Harbor on Liberty Island. The statue is 151 feet tall, light green color woman but due to natural weathering, she was originally copper). She is holding a torch up in the air in her left hand and a tablet on the other hand. The torch is lit which is represented by 24K gold plating. She is wearing a crown with 7 spikes which represents the 7 continents; at the bottom of her feet are broken chains. I agree with everything that it represents especially freedom.II.Choose elements of the artifactthat you believe are most important to how you experience it and explain why. For instance, what particularly catches your senses or makes you want to keep experiencing it? Does the choice of medium impact your experience?I believe one of the elements that is most important for me is how she’s holding the torch; she’s standing tall while she’s holding the torch with pride. Since it symbolizes enlightenment, I feel like every time someone will see her, she’s giving them light. A light to seek for their dreams. The second element that is most important is the poem that is written on the tablet by Emma Lazarus. Like they always say, America, the land of the free, offers a new start for anyone that’s striving for a better life. Lastly, the broken chains atthe feet of the statue symbolize freedom anddemocracy, the Statue for us symbolizes a new beginning, like my family, we came to America to accomplish our dreams and improve our lives.
