Chemical Bond a lasting attraction between atoms that enables the formation of a chemical compound Ionic bond: Electron transfer from one atom to the other, the two ions are held together by electrostatic forces Covalent Bond: a pair of electrons is shared between atoms, the mutual attraction between the electrons and nuclei forms the bond Metallic Bond: Electrons shared between many atoms simultaneously and allowed to flow between the atoms.
