Sarai Harding :)HIS 122Thomas Dicke11 December 2018 Final Essay: An Analysis of How the Cold War Began and EndedIn 1945, the most devastating and deadly war, World War II, finally came to an end, but a new war soon began. Throughout the second World War, the Soviet Union and the United States fought side by side as powerful allies, but remained incredibly wary of each other. The United States grew more and more aware of, and hesitant toward, the communism occurring in the USSR, and of Joseph Stalin’s reign. Likewise, the USSR despised the lack of support and recognition the United States gave them prior to their entry into WWII. When the war concluded,the time simply allowed for both parties to fester in their disdain for the other party, and resulted in an overall atmosphere of hostility and distrust. The Americans came to worry about a Russian plan to dominate the world, and the Russians perceived the United States as eager to enter war with their interventionist approach to international relations. Thus began the Cold War. The cultural and political war of the Capitalists versus the Communist party was a war that had never quite been seen before. England’s Winston Churchill was of the first to make whatwas considered anti-communist remarks in a speech he gave in March of 1946. In this speech,
