Full Speed Ahead or Proceed with Caution?
1. In order for a social business to be a success, management needs to reevaluate and reconstruct its way of running the organization. Management will be required to undergo some leadership and behavioral changes; managers will need to show all employees that they are willing to adapt to the more horizontal organizational style and transparency (Laudon, 2018). The managers are the role models of the company, the employees look to them to get an example of the behavior they should be reflecting therefore, the management team must be enthusiastic and must encourage all the employees within the firm to adapt to the new changes. To add on, operating a social business means a change in the way the organization operates; the organization needs to be viewed in a more horizontal way which means everyone is on the same level with no hierarchy; a manager and his/her secretary are on the same level and their ideas are equally as valid. While adding new technologies is detrimental to a company’s adaption to the new world and its level of success however, companies must be aware of the level of difficulty the new technology they are adding is bringing to the employees.
