Evaluate the types of epithelial and connective tissue found in the epidermis and dermis of the skin in the terms of anatomy and functions. Epidermis- According to Marieb,2016 known as the outer most layer of skin.is part of the cutaneous membrane. ( Marieb,2016, p. 95) The Epidermis protects the dermis (it acts as a protective covering), restricts water loss and protects the body from harmful bacteria and pathogens ( Marieb,2016, p. 95). Dermis- According to Marieb,2016 is the sensitive connective tissue located directly under the epidermis. Dermis consists of nerve endings, lymph vessels, sweat glands, sebaceous glands, and blood vessels (Marieb,2016, p.96). It is made up of the papillary layer and the reticular layer (Marieb,2016, p.96). Epidermal sublayers: Stratum basal- According to Martini, 2017 it is the deepest layer of skin and it attaches to the basement membrane (Martini, 2017, p. 154-156). It is also known as stratum germination. (Martini, 2017, p. 156). Basal cells are also stem cells that divide and replace more superficial keratinocytes that are shed at the epithelial surface (Martini, 2017, p. 154-156).

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
