CONFIRM TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS Make sure you meet the technical requirements for this course. All of this information was provided in the letter sent out to registered students, and is also available in the course syllabus. You need a Moodle account, and for that you need a valid YorkU email account. You should also update all your software including Browsers and that you have the Silverlight Plugin. Contact Top Hat to purchase your eText book (no subscription to Top Hat necessary, so don’t pay for one!) Make sure BEFORE the course starts that Moodle is working, and that you are able to access the website (you should see the course when you sign in to Moodle). Otherwise it may mean unnecessary delays in getting started, or difficulties accessing course components.

2 2. READ EVERYTHING ! We are constantly posting information on the Film 1701 website. Make sure you read it. If you don’t read these items, and don’t read announcements or updates, or instructions and guidelines, you won’t know what’s going on. And if you don’t know what’s going, you’re only making it harder for yourself. Items posted include: Syllabus (Course Outline) Course Announcements (at the top of the website) Instructions and Guidelines for Assignments Communications from your Tutorial Leaders (posted in your Tutorial Meeting Place. eText Chapters assigned for the Lecture Units Supplementary readings occasionally assigned 3. WATCH EVERYTHING Watch all the films – they are the key to this course, and to all its materials an assignments. All films are available through links on the website. There are also instructions posted about what to do if you are having troubles accessing the films (i.e. the links are not working).
