1. Study polarization of light by selective absorption --- Malu's law. 2. Study polarization of light by reflection --- Brewster's law. Theory 1. Polarization of light Light, like all electromagnetic radiation, is a transverse wave. The electric field E and magnetic field B in the light wave are perpendicular to each other, and both are perpendicular to the direction of wave travel. By convention the “polarization”of light refers to the polarization of the electric field E. polarization is a property of waves that E can oscillate with more than one orientation. 2. Polarization of light by selective absorption Linear polarizer made from dichroic material has a special optical axis called polarizing axis. An ideal polarizer can selectively absorb all the incident light with E vector perpendicular to the polarizing axis and passes all the incident light with E vector

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
