Childhood & Early Life Born on November 16, 1935 in Belbin, Ashraqya, Egypt. His father was a general surgeon Entered the Cairo University Graduated from Cairo University Medical School in 1957

Career Moved to London and worked in leading hospitals in 1962 for the next 40 years. In 1968, he took a short break to teach in the United States. In 1986, while still working at Harefield Hospital He supervised over 60 research students in the areas of tissue engineering. In 1995, he founded the UK-based children's charity ‘Chain of Hope’.
