Hello All, An example of an economic condition that may have influenced the content and development of the U.S. Constitution was the fact that money was desperately need and that the Articles of Confederation left Congress without a lot of power. As stated in the article: In 1783, with the war formally drawing to a close, the Congress faced a wider range of issues: the disbanding of the Continental Army, the large debts owed by each state, foreign debts owed by the Confederation, the governing of territories won from the British, and the establishment of formal relationships with foreign countries. ( To form a more perfect Union) With Congress being so weak, it could not force the States to follow any types of laws or legislations. Seeing how ineffective this was, the U.S. Constitution was created to make sure that the national government was strong and was no longer at the mercy of the states. The political conditions of that day and age also influenced the development of the Constitution. The 13 colonies no longer wanted to be under the rule of the
