The child develops a sense of self as well as language, cognitive, social, emotional, problem-solving, self-help, and motor skills. 2. Growing cultural diversity: The U.S. census shows that there has been dramatic growth in Cultural diversity. Number of young children from multicultural families is increasing. The populations of some ethnic group are growing more quickly than other. 4. Changes in families: A dramatic change has taken place in the early experiences of preschool children during the past four decades. Changes in family life, the economy, and public support have influenced the growth of early childhood education. The bread winner/homemaker marriage is no longer the norm. This traditional family structure exists only in a small percentage
