Unformatted text preview: visit, as I would take this as a compliment and a boost to my ego. Not having any shame or jealousy would make for an interesting social setting. So much of my culture is based on both the sexual taboo and jealousy that I can’t imagine what it would be like. I guess that not having to worry about what people say about you is a positive aspect of this culture, but from what I read, they are messing up their existence in a very real way. Because of the incest and lack of safety during these visits, STDs are rampant among the villagers. I completely believe that more than half of the villagers have syphilis because of the number of sexual partners that they have. This is also causing women to become sterile and babies to be born with deformities. It’s sad that the people were oppressed over their beliefs, but its sadder that babies, because of no fault of their own, have to deal with the deformities that this society has bred....
