Anthony Lopez Sociology D4 March 25, 2008 How Am I Deviant? I’m guilty of be deviant time after time. But you know what? I’m not perfect and either is anyone else so I’m not the only violating expected rules and norms. I grew up being told that lying is wrong and that I should never do it but as I got older, I would do things behind my parents back and would lie constantly to them. Yes, I know that was wrong but I knew my parents wouldn’t approve of what I was doing but even when they told me not to do it, I would drive me to do it anyways. As the years went by, it got easier to lie to them about certain things because for as far as they knew, they didn’t think I was doing them. At the age of 16, I was smoking cigarettes and only a few select people knew I did and hid it from everyone else. It was against the law to smoke cigarettes at the age of 16 since I wasn’t 18 but I hung out with older people so it was easy to get the cigarettes and it wasn’t like I was smoking out in public, I would be in my backyard when I was home alone or at friends
