Use examples from your country. 1. The process of Colonization in Africa began with slave trade during the years of 1500-1800’s. This was the first and primary contact with Europe. In 1807, slave trade ended due to the passing of anti-slavery treaties. The missionaries, explorers and traders then began to penetrate interior Africa in the 1830’s; this is right around the time that the term “spheres of influence” came into being. Spheres of influence were when the commercial companies claimed African countries by putting the borders wherever they pleased. These commercial
