Organization Foundations I have worked from a nursing assistant to register nurse for the past 23 years, and I have learned many different kinds of mission, vision, and value (MVV) of hospitals and healthcare agencies. Some leaders follow it to the letter and try to ingrain it into the employees. However, others do not even focus on it at all. According to Nelson and Gardent (2011), mission and vision statements define the organization’s purpose and goals while the core value statement set a tone of the culture. With this in mind, for this discussion, I will reflect and discusses the MVV of my current organization and its culture and the role of a nurse leader. Organizational Mission, Vision, and Values Currently, I work for hospice and home health agencies as an on-call nurses. One of those agencies is Capital Caring (CC). Capital Caring is a hospice and palliative care provider agency. The mission statement says, “To improve care for those facing life-limiting illness through direct support of patients and their families, public education and public advocacy” (Capital Caring, n.d.). The vision statement is “To be recognized as a center of excellence in providing and catalyzing world-class advanced illness care” (Capital Caring, n.d.). Moreover, it has five core values, and they are as followed: 1. Complete customer satisfaction 2. A culture of trust. 3.
