Data Data can be defined as: The simple observation of states of the world , which are easily structured and recorded . The known raw facts used as a basis of inference / conclusions . The representations of events that people notice and bring to the attention of other people in the organization. Information (Organized Memory) Information can be defined as: A systematically organized data in logical and cohesive format for a specific purpose. The data processed into meaningful purpose such as overtime worked. The data endowed with relevance / meaning and purpose . The meaning assigned to the data. Knowledge Knowledge can be defined as: The actionable information accumulated and organized in a meaningful way. The information analyzed, processed, and placed in context. The set of beliefs about causal relationships in an organization. The information provided at the right place , at the right time , and in the appropriate format . A mix of experience , values , contextual information , expert insight and grounded intuition for evaluating and incorporating new experiences and information . The innovation and creativity applied to create new or improve existing products , services, processes, and markets . The process of translating information and past experiences into meaningful set of relationships which are understood and applied by an individual. Wisdom It refers to the ability to act critically or practically in a given situation . It refers to the applied knowledge that can be found through books, poetry and beliefs. It is often captured in famous quotes, proverbs, and sayings . It is based on ethical judgment related to an individual's belief system .

Mr. Ahmed Galal KM Term Revision January 2019 2 Explicit and Tacit knowledge. Explicit Knowledge It refers to the: Knowledge articulated and stored internally in certain media. Tacit knowledge that has not been documented in structured form . Knowledge transmittable in formal and systematic language . Formal and systematic language, with the potential to be (1) codified and (2) shared in the form of data, scientific formulas, specifications, guidelines, manuals, procedures, strategies, databases and reports, which are then (3) processed , (4) transmitted and (5) stored relatively easy. Tacit Knowledge It refers to the: Personal and context-specific knowledge that is hard to formalize and communicate .. Knowledge which draws on the accumulated experience and learning of a person and which is hard to reproduce or share with others .
