FEDERAL AND STATE STATUTES AND CASE LAWS 2Federal and State Statutes and Case Law Citations The Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act, enacted in28 U.S.C.§ 994 note Sec. 280003The mentioned statute is a federal regulation that was meant to make obligations against hate crimes. Hate crime category has to do with the criminal activity termed as bias crimeswhich encompass harm done to an individual due to animosity motivated by differences involving origin, color, race, religion, nationality, gender, age, disability or sexual orientation of the individual. The mentioned section Sec.28003 was enacted in 1994 to require the United States Sentencing Commission to establish more stringent penalties on the individuals that commit such crimes based on actual differences and also on perceived differences in the mentioned categories. As such, the United States Sentencing Commissions established the guidelines but only confined the sentences to federal crimes. Accordingly, the law also defined federal crimes. These are all the criminal activities that are outlawed by the federal government through registration. In as much as federal crimes are categorized under the United States federallaw, they can be persecuted at the federal level and at the state level as well. The implication is
