For example, in a credit market, lenders may not be perfectly informed about riskiness of the projects of the borrowers. In the case of allocation of public goods, the government may not be perfectly informed about whether taxpayers sufficiently care about such goods. In this course we seek to understand how lack of information can result in undesirable outcomes and how one can design contracts to resolve such issues. We shall also study how information can be transmitted through networks and the quality of such information. The topics we plan to cover include product
