The Implications of the MyHeritage Event On June 6, 2018, MyHeritage, a well-known online genealogy platform that provides DNA testing services, has 92 million user account data found on third-party private servers. The data breach was mainly for the email address and hash password of registered users before October 26, 2017, the largest data breach since Equifax leaked 147.9 million private data in 2017. Compared to other user information leakage incidents, MyHeritage user information leakage may be more serious. This is a home genetic and DNA detection website. The user information stores not only private information, but also personal DNA test results. It may be used by criminals. Network security means that the data in the hardware, software, and systems of the network system is protected. It is not damaged, altered or leaked due to accidental or malicious reasons. The system runs continuously and reliably (Jaeger et al 2018). Network services without interrupting network security have also become a core component of national security and play an important role in the key links and basic guarantees of economic and social development. In recent years, network security incidents have occurred frequently. Through this MyHeritage information disclosure incident, we can see that for the current forms of network security hazards, the following are mainly the following: 1. Large-scale attacks are becoming more frequent The main forms of large-scale attacks are the denial of service attacks (DDoS), domain name resolution server (DNS) hijacking, and so on. The scale of today's DDoS attacks has been significantly order of magnitude higher than it was a few years ago, as large-scale network crashes caused by DDoS attacks have become increasingly serious. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
