Running Head: GENETIC NURSING ASSESSMENT 1 Sickle Cell Trait Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Sickle Cell Trait I have used my family to bring out how a genetic condition that has characterized our lifestyle for almost a century. The count begins with my grandfather and grandmother who in the actual sense are still alive and well. It then continues to my parents who are also alive. I am in a family of four which constitutes two ladies and three gentlemen. I am twenty-one years and free from the genetic disorder which is sickle cell anemia. The generation discussed starts with my grandfather, 70 years. My father stands at forty-five years of age. My grandfather has been healthy and has not been affected by any medical condition. In fact, he is lucky in a way since he has never been admitted. However, my grandmother who is at sixty-five years of age is quite energetic and was diagnosed with the sickle cell genetic trait while she was about 15 years. Occupationally, my grandfather is a businessman who deals in clothes, and my grandmother is a teacher (Kaakinen et al., 2015). Therefore, they have been in a position to manage all the requirements of the disease and this to a great extent has assisted my grandmother.
