As nurses we are our patients advocates, we are their voices. Our patients and their families trust us with their lives and it is our responsibility to do everything within our scope of practice to make sure all of their needs are met. As nurses alone, we cannot provide our patients with everything they need to rehabilitate. Our patients require various disciplines to reach their optimal level of health. This requires nurses to have exceptional interprofessional collaboration with our various members of the healthcare team. “Interprofessional collaboration refers to the establishment of a mutually respectful professional relationship that recognizes the unique knowledge and skills of both the nurse and physician and has the expressed goal of promoting high-quality patient care—in particular patient-centered care—and maximizing patient outcomes” (Woten,2018). I work in a fast-paced Trauma ICU and every day we perform multidisciplinary rounds on all of our patients. The
