The argument presented in the book dives into both of the sides of the question of what should Russia’s focus be on to better progress themselves as a nation. On one side of conversation some are arguing that Russia must make a strong military presence. This argument stems from feeling threatened by the NATO alliance. They felt encircled and like they needed to respond back as aggressively as they felt the NATO alliance was. This initiated their Warsaw Pact. The argument continues using this feeling of threat as reasoning for why Russia must focus on showing its strength stating that NATO and the European union were expanded after the fall of the Soviet Union, making them feel further threatened and in danger. They also claim the need for high intelligence military and high-tech warfare due to the Islamic militants within their borders and close south.
