Course Description
This course is intended to acquaint students, for example, with a detailed explanation of the mathematics
used in everyday life.
Topics include set theory, logic, number theory and the real number system, and
probability.
Textbook
Mathematics All Around, 3

Edition, by T.L. Pirnot, Pearson AddisonWesley.
Course Objectives
Success in many collegelevel courses begins with a good understanding of mathematics.
One objective
is to help students develop this understanding, while another goal is to show students how mathematics
can be used as a modeling language for reallife applications.

If you are going to be away for a valid
reason, please let me know so that I can assign you work during your absence.
You are always
expected to be on time for class.
