Unformatted text preview: Changing Study Habits I have a friend named Candace who has some rather detrimental study habits. Candace is pretty good about attending her classes, but she is a procrastinator and often finds herself overloaded with work at the last minute and doesn’t always get things done on time. She doesn’t always study for tests as much or as long as she should. She is easily distracted by her friends and the television, and these things are often the reasons for her lack of effort towards her school work. If Candace were able to change her behavior so that she devoted more of her time to studying and does less procrastinating, then she should be able to become a better student. One way to change these behaviors is through operant conditioning. Operant conditioning is when the consequences of a certain behavior have an effect on how often that behavior will reoccur.
