Upon reflection of the skills learned and developed over the course of the IBC unit, I find that my understanding and correct use of critical thinking has evolved to a point where it is effective. Development of this important skill was made possible by understanding and implementing strategies that are targeted to critical thinking. Fogler discusses the ’11 fallacies of logic’ (Fogler, 2014), which resonated with me. Once I understood Fogler’s views on logic, I was able to look at problems at ideas more deeply, enabling me to understand whether an issue is an actual problem or simply an enhanced perception. I was able to implement my learnings by utilising tactics such as a KT-DA to make decisions regarding priorities for the Disney assessment. Fogler (2014) discusses the need to determine your must have and wants and to weigh their importance to enable a decision to be made with justification. When thinking about the development of my critical thinking skills, I honestly feel a sense of achievement. Being a to hone these skills enables me to be both effective and confident in my decisions. This has boosted my confidence in my ability to successfully complete my degree.
