10/25/07 KARNIK SHAH LECTURE-14726 LAB-14727 BUSINESS ASSIGNMENT-“I DETEST BUREAUCRACY” This organization is an organic model, which is an organization in which the structure is flat, which uses cross-hierarchical and cross-functional teams, has low formalization, possesses comprehensive information network, and relies on participative decision making. There is no bureaucracy and no formal rules and regulations. Employees have no fixed working hours and they can work when they feel most comfortable. However, there is a chain of command and norms that are to be met. Tech Target has a loose, laidback and open environment giving the employees independence and this increases satisfaction, commitment and productivity. However not all kinds of employees can work well in such a laid-back environment. Therefore Tech Target employs a painstaking interview process to identify which employees fit into the cultures, norms and values of the firm.
