Introduction: Caffeine ( 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine ) is found naturally in coffee beans, tea leaves, cocoa beans (chocolate) and other plants. The purpose of this experiment was to show how caffeine is extracted and isolated from tea leaves. Caffeine makes people more alert, less drowsy, and improves coordination. The extraction and purification of caffeine have a great importance in the medical field where it is used as a central nervous system, respiratory, and cardiac stimulants. For example, it is used to treat breathing problems in newborns and in young babies after surgery, as well as alone or combined with other medicines to relieve headaches. Caffeine is also utilized to counteract the side effects of other drugs, notably drowsiness caused by
