Introduction: Water may contain dissolved materials such as calcium ions, magnesium ions, iron, hydrogen ions, sulfate ions etc… Water containing calcium and magnesium ions ( 2 + ¿ Ca ¿ , 2 + ¿ Mg ¿ ) will not produce a satisfactory lather and it is called “Hard Water”. The hardness of water can be determined by titrating a sample of water with a standard solution of EDTA. The aim of the experiment was to determine the hardness of a sample of water. Used equipments: Analytical balance 500 ml, and 1 L volumetric flak 25 and 50 ml pipette 250 ml Erlenmeyer 5 ml graduated cylinder Dropper Magnetic agitator Used chemicals: Disodium-dihydrogen-EDTA solid MgCl 2 .6 H 2 O solid Distilled water Calcium carbonate solid Hydrochloric acid Calcium chloride solution

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
